How it works
From registration to the official exam, here’s exactly what to expect and in what order.
You choose your modules
Registration is done online, payment is secure and access is immediate. You can access the modules you have chosen and add more at any time.
The first module, General Skills and Knowledge, must be passed before you can sit the other exams. You must therefore start with this one.
You take the material
Each module provides summary PDFs, PowerPoint presentations, videos and podcasts, depending on whether you prefer to read, listen or watch.
Start there. Practising without having seen the material only shows you what you don’t know.
Are you training?
Practice exercises in the exam format and practical case studies in the form of client dialogues, which are timed and cannot be undone.
The conditions are the same as on the day of the exam. However, we recommend achieving an average of at least 80 per cent in each module before aiming for official certification.
You can see exactly what’s missing
At the end of each set of exercises, the answer key provides a detailed breakdown of your answers, and a personalised revision plan highlights the chapters you need to work on further.
This outline links directly to the relevant course materials: you know exactly what to revise, without having to look it up.
You’re starting the cycle again
You go over your weak points, practise the exercises again and assess how much progress you’ve made, then go back to the parts you’re still struggling with.
It is spaced repetition that builds lasting reflexes, far more so than reading a text just once.
You’re keeping track of your average
Your dashboard keeps a record of your attempts for 30 days, as well as your average score and your progress module by module. A series is only considered passed if you achieve at least %80 success.
This threshold is deliberately set higher than that of the official exam: aim for it regularly before you register.
You are sitting the official exam
The exam is organised by the VBV, the official AFA examination body, independently of Caelys. You can register and choose a date yourself, depending on the module you have selected. The VBV sets the registration requirements, procedures and fees, and requires a pass mark of 60 per cent.
Once you have passed a module, you move on to the next ones, until you achieve the all-subjects certification if you pass them all.
